You are just complicated.
You live in a human body that evolved over 1000s of years to deal with very immediate threats like famine and a wolf attack.
Your human body doesn’t understand what to do about the 24 hour news cycle.
It doesn’t have a nuanced and reasonable and balanced response to your boss yelling at you because you turned into paper late.
That part of you that experiences anxiety and anger and depression and freeze and flight that’s got the intellectual capacity of an eight year old.
There is an eight year old you sat in your brain being very scared and trying to respond in the way that an eight year old would by going to extremes at any one time.
You could be more than one person.
There’s the part of you that considers itself you.
There’s the part of you that looks at the past and tries to measure out what might happen in the future based on what we’ve experienced.
There’s a part of you that wants to pick apart everything and analyse everything.
There’s the part of you that wants to come up with brand new ideas and get distracted by every single shiny object it sees.
The more moving parts a machine has, the more complicated it becomes, the more complicated it becomes, the more long term regular maintenance that it needs.
If a machine needs some maintenance, that doesn’t mean that it’s broken.
